Having been as short as 1/7 to be named PFA Player of the Year, Robin van Persie is now out to 7/4 with BetVictor for the prestigious award after Gareth Bale’s latest Roy Of The Rovers display for Spurs against West Ham at Upton Park last night arrested favouritism (8/13) from the Dutch striker for the first time this season.
BetVicror spokesperson Charlie McCann: “Bale was 33s for the PFA award, which he also won in 2011, at the end of January but such has been his magnificent form in recent weeks that he was cut at all rates into 2/1 before his latest two-goal demolition of the Hammers last night.
“On current form he is the third best player in the world and he was also slashed this morning from 66s to 25s for the FIFA Ballon d’Or behind Messi at ½, Ronaldo at 7/2 and Iniesta at 12s; he certainly deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as those greats”.
