Big Fight Preview – Michael Katsidis v Ricky Burns

Ricky Burns 32-2 (9kos) bids to shake off the doubters – as to the reason why he vacated his World title – when he tops the bill in a brilliant night of boxing live on BoxNation (channel456) this weekend against the Aussie Warrior Michael Katsidis 28-4 (23kos), best known on British shores when he destroyed the troubled UK topdog Kevin Mitchell inside of three rounds back in 2010.

The likeable Burns has achieved so much in his career. He has gone from being a British level opponent for up and coming fighters to world champion inside of 4 years.

Yes I know he made 3 defences against laughable opposition but I don’t feel like that’s Rickys fault – more the management not being willing to take a risk.

He certainly has his work cut out on Saturday night against the all action and all out aggression of Katsidis who has lost just four times against truly world class opposition. Those opponents had the power to slow down the lightweight powerhouse and that is certainly a problem that Ricky has in this battle. He has no power in his fists and which means this will be like like going to war with a feather duster against a Panzer tank and he is certainly going to endure a torrid opening 6 rounds at least.

When the prices were first published  Katsidis was 10-11 to win and 15-8 the ko and that was certainly the value in the bout.

Now the prices are 4-7 and 6-5 respectively and the value has clearly gone but I feel that Katsidis is going to massive in size come ring time and will make life hell for Burns early doors. I feel the gulf between the two will be apparent very quickly and I expect Ricky to be crushed inside of 5 rounds.
