Bold Lass and Baker can rise to the occasion

Bold Lass looked a filly to keep onside when scoring last time out and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 in the 2.00 at Epsom today.

David Lanigan’s four-year-old has won four of her six starts on turf, and scored with far more in hand than the winning margin suggests on seasonal reappearance at Windsor when beating Bint Dandy be a neck.

Bold Lass dwelt at the start but thne made smooth headway on the outside two from home and challenged on the bridle before taking up the running inside the final furlong.

She then idled, but only had to be driven out by today’s jockey George Baker to get the job done and was always in command.

Although that was just a class 3 handicap, the manner of the success suggested Bold Lass was well worth a crack at this level and this doesn’t look the strongest of Group 3 contests.

The favourite Odeliz hasn’t won for two years, and Bold Lass is on a serious upward curve and looks the type who has plenty more to offer for a trainer that doesn’t tilt at windmills and doesn’t have many runners at the venue.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Bold Lass (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
