Boss the best bet at Newbury

The lightly raced The Boss looks nicely treated from the foot of the weights in the 4.35 at Newbury and rates the best bet on the card at 9/2.

Jeremy Scott’s charge rounded off a good campaign last season when scoring in  a handicap hurdle at warwick by 1/2 a length from Equity Release off a mark of 105 and is able to race off a 1lb lower mark today over the larger obstacles

That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective and he shaped really well here to starts ago when runner-up to Back Bob Back.

Although no match for the winner that day he kept on really well to be beaten 7 lengths without being knocked about once it was clear he would not be winning.

He was then switched back to hurdles when heavily backed on his latest start at Warwick but ran below form and could finish only fifth of 8 to Ballyoliver.

However that run may well have come too quickly as it was his second run in two weeks after a lengthy lay-off.

He has since been given a nice break to freshen him up, and if that has done the trick then there is little doubt that he has the ability to bounce back and land this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win The Boss (9/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
