Jersey Bull has been shaping as if ready to strike and looks worth siding with at 13/2 in the 3.35 at Lingfield today.
The gelding had some fairly decent form last year when trained by Mick Channon, finishing third on two occasions at Bath before opening his account with a 1/2 length success in a nine-runner class 5 maiden at Ripon.
He was allotted an opening handicap mark of 75, and subsequently failed to trouble the judge in his next six runs.
However his mark fell as a result and he shape as if coming back to form on his penultimate start over course and distance when given a shocker of a ride.
After missing the kick slightly, jockey Willie Twiston-Davies was content to let him sit miles off the pace in a hopeless position on the inside, and when a gap did eventually appear he stayed on well without being knocked about to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths.
Jersey Bull backed that up with a solid third over a mile here last time out when beaten 2 1/4 lengths by a very well-handicapped horse in Le Rouquin, and is able to race in this off an unchanged mark of 57.
That gives Michael Madgwick’s charge every chance from a handicapping perpsective, and everything points to a big run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Jersey Bull (13/2 bet365, BetVictor, Paddy Power, Sky Bet – BOG)
