Carling Cup Clash – Arsenal v Bolton

Arsenal and Bolton take each other on for the first time in the Carling Cup tonight (7.45pm KO) and the home side look impossible to oppose at 4/7.

The Gunners have finally started to get their act together and thrashed Bolton 3-0 at the Emirates in the Premiership last month.

The Trotters have also recently been on the end of a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea and a 5-0 tonking by Man United, and come into the game in terrible form on the back of a 2-0 home defeat to Sunderland.

By stark contrast the Wenger boys have won five of their last six matches in all competitions, and have never failed to reach the quarter finals of this competition in the last nine years.

They have won their last seven home matches in this competition, scoring 21 goals in the process and conceding only two.

Everything suggests a comfortable Arsenal victory, and to be honest 4/7 looks too big a price.

However for those that don’t like to play at odds-on a small wager on Theo Walcott to score first could provide a bit of alternative value with leading goal scorer Robin van Persie expected to be rested.

Walcott is 13/2 with Betfred to net the opener, and this is just the time of game where he excels.
