Channon’s Elidor can score at Newmarket

Elidor shaped well last time out and looks worth siding with at 5/1 in the 2.15 at Newmarket today.

Mich Channon’s gelding is a smart sort who easily beat Dark Ruler by 2 3/4 lengths on reapperance at Thirsk last year off a mark of 92.

He went on to finish an good third to Gatewood in a Listed contest at Ascot off a rating of 99, and posted a solid effort when a fine fourth of 18 to Aran Spring in the Duke Of Edinbrugh Stakes at Royal Ascot off the same mark.

The five-year-old also ran a blinder to finish third of 19 to Mutual Regard in the Ebor at York over 1m 6f off 99, and was far from disgraced when fourth of 13 to Somachion in the Mallard Stakes at Doncaster off 102.

He is now able to race in this less competitive affair off 100, just 1lb higher than his run in the Ebor over today’s trip, and  comes into the contest on the back of a decent run to finish a close up third over 1m 4f at Thirsk.

That outing should have put him spor on for this, and on the pick of his form Elidor looks weighted to take all the beating in what doesn’t look the strongest of class 2 contests.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Elidor (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
