Cheltenham Festival day 4: Dave primed to Run a big race

Runfordave has a progressive profile looks worth a wager at 10/1 in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival (4.50).

Gordon Elliott’s five-year-old made a highly encouraging debut over hurdles when third of 22 to the well-regraded Moulin A Vent at Punchestown back in November.

He duly built on that to beat Capital Force by a head in a 20-runner affair at Fairyhouse and looked sure to follow-up when coming to grief two from home at Limerick when travelling strongly and just taking up the running.

Runfordave has since bolted up by 11 lengths in a minor contest at Clonmel, travelling powerfully throughout and forging clear to win with any amount in hand.

The selection has been handed a mark of 140 on the back of those performances and that does notlook harsh as he is clearly on an upward curve and appeals as the type that should have plenty more to offer

Runfordave is also a strong traveller, an ideal attribute for the race, and has the services of top conditional Donagh Meyler in the saddle.
