Generous Ransom is back down to his last winning mark and rates a solid bet at 7/2 in the 2.50 at Ludlow today now eased in grade.

Nick Gifford’s gelding progressed well over fences last season, winning a competitive 12-runner contest at Cheltenham off a mark of 128 before going on to finish an excellent third of 20 to Irish Cavalier in a 2m 4f Listed class 1 novices’ handicap chase at the Festival off 136.

Generous Ransom stayed on well in the altter beaten just three lengths and the form of the race is strong.

The eight-year-old got up 4lb to 140 as a result of that run, and has failed to trouble the judge in four starts this season.

However, he has shaped better than the bare result in his last two starts in class 2 and class 1 contests and has been dropped a further 8lb since the last of those.

Genrous Ransom is now able to race off 128, and that makes him dangerously well-treated now dropped down into class 3 company.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Generous Ransom (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
