Sheikhzayedroad looks cracking value at 8/1 in Lonsdale Cup at York today (2.25).
David Simcock’s eight-year-old ran very well in in last year’s Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup ago when staying on to finish a 5 1/4 lengths third of 17 to Order Of St George after a far from clear passage and went to beat Quest For More by a short-head in the Group 2 Doncaster Cup.
He then rouned off the campaign with a 1/2 length success over the same rival in the British Champions Long Distance Cup Ascot, where he had the likes of Sinple Verse and Oder Of St George in behind.
The form of those race sis very strong in realtion to this Group 2 contest, and it also doesn’t look the strongest of renewals.
Sheikhzayedroad also now drops down in grade having been far from disgraced in his last two runs in Group 1 company and is a course and distance winner.
He is also joint top rated with Dartmouth, who gives has to give him 3lb and now trirs 2m for the first time.
I think his price is totally wrong and at the odds on offer he looks ovrepriced and well worth a wager..
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sheikhzayedroad (8/1 bet365 – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
