Welsh WBO Light-Heavyweight World Champ Nathan Cleverly is to defend his title in the US after landing a slot on the undercard of WBC Super-Bantamweight Champion Abner Mares next defence on 10th November. Cleverly was due to fight in Cardiff at the city’s Motorpoint Arena on October 27th but this bill has now been cancelled and promoter Frank Warren has transfer Junior Witter v Frankie Gavin for the British Welterweight title to his show at York Hall in London on 1st November and Ovill McKenzie v Enzo Maccarinelli for the Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight title will now take place on 9th November in Liverpool on Queensberry Promotions bill.
“At only 25 it’s a dream come true to defend my world title in America on such a big show and it takes my career to a whole new level, it’s a golden opportunity to make a big statement that I’m the leading man in the light-heavyweight division,” said Cleverly.
