Cloth Of Stars makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the Investec Derby at Epsom today (4.30).

Trained in France by Andre Fabre, the colt has won four of his six starts and was very impressive in the last of those when landing the Group 2 Prix Greffulhe over 1m 2f at Saint-Cloud.

After being held-up in the last pair, Cloth of Stars made stealthy headway 1 1/2 furlongs out before quickening smartly to win going away by 2 1/2 lengths from Group 1 winner Robin of Navan.

Given the way he finished off the race the step up to 1m 4f looks sure to suit, and he is one of a few in the line-up that have stromg form to his name and no real question marks to answer.

The three-year-old has a real touch of class, looks open to further improvement, and is trained by a master.

Fabre also knows what is required to win the race having saddled a similar type in Pour Moi to land the spoils in 2011, and Cloth Of Stars looks to hold outstanding  claims of providiong him with another classic winner.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Cloth Of Stars (9/1 Stan James – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
