Coillte Cailin makes her eagerly awaited handicap debut in the 5.00 at Lingfield today and is of major interest at 9/4.
Mark Loughnane’s filly has caught the eye in all five starts in maidens , none more so than when last time out at Wolverhampton four days ago over 1m 1f.
She was held-up well off the pace that day by Tom Queally who then found himself trapped on heels with nowhere to go when the pace quickened.
This allowed the ventual winner Vastly to get first run, and although Coillte Cailain finished with a flourish she went down by a neck.
However, she was not unduly knocked about by Queally and like her previous runs when tenderly handled left the impression she would be a different proposition in handicaps.
She now gets her first start in that sphere off a mark of 67, and I will be very surprised if she is not better than that.
The step up in trip to 1m 2f should also hold no fears, and in what looks a very winnable class 5 contest she rates the best bet on the card in the hands of Stephen Craine.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Coillte Cailin (9/4 Paddy Power – BOG)
