Cool George hot stuff at Taunton

Cool George is a fascinating contender in the 1.05 at Taunton today and looks overpriced at 7/1 to make a winning debut over hurdles.

Jackie Du Plessis’s charge looked a horse with a big future when making a striking winning debut in a bumper at Exeter last year.

He led four furlongs from home and pulled effortlessly clear in the final two furlongs to win with his head in his chest by 9 lengths from Umadachar.

The runner-up gave the form a solid look by winning next time out and went on to finish a fine third in a listed bumper at Aintree.

The selection then had his sights raised and was quietly fancied by some shrewd judges in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.

However after chasing the leaders on the outside he lost his action and was pulled up three out, and something was clearly amiss.

Connections have since given him plenty of time to recover, and if back to anything like the horse he looked on his debut he could have a big future over the obstacles.

If he was in the care of a big named handler he certainly wouldn’t be 7/1 to land this, and at the odds on offer rates the best value bet on the card.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Cool George (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
