Caranbola shaped as if returning to form last time out and rates a solid bet at 7/2 to cash-in on her lenient handicap mark in the 9.00 at Beverley tonight.
Mel Brittain’s mare is a six times course and distance winner, but her last success came at Ripon last August where he kept on gamley to beat Spinatrix by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 80 in a class 3 contest.
She was then far from disgraced on his next two starts off a mark of 83 when 8th of 19 to El Viento in a class 2 affair at the same track and when9th of 16 to Escape To Glory in a class 4 contest at Haydock.
Her form then tailed off, but her mark has fallen as a result and she put in a much improved effort last time out when an eye-catching 2 3/4 length sixth of 15 to Ziggy Lee over course and distance where she raced up with the pace out wide before being unable to find any extra inside the last.
It was an effort which suggested her time was near, and with the handicapper having dropped her another 1lb to a mark of 74 he is now 6lb below her last win and weighted to go in again.
The seven-year-old also now takes a drop in grade into class 5 company and is reunited with Silvestre De Sousa, who rode herm to her last success and is now back in the saddle for the first time since.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Caranbola (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
