Fame Again has an excellent record at Wolverhampton and is strongly fancied at 9/2 to land the 3.35 there today.
Mick Easterby’s gelding is a son of Gentleman’s Deal who was a real specialist on the all-weather surface, and has come into his own since tackling it.
He has won two of his three starts over course and distance, making all on both occasions to land gambles off marks of 64 and 69.
His last win back in October saw him cosily beat Silverware by 3/4 of a length and that horse has subsequently gone on to score twice off marks of 74 and 75 to give the form a solid look.
The selection went on to finish an excellent third of 18 to Chookie Royale on the turf at Doncaster over an inadequate 7f when last seen in action on the level off a mark of 70, and although he showed nothing in a spin over hurdles last time up he is likely to be a different proposition now returned to his favourite stomping ground.
He gets into today’s contest off a mark of 71 – just 2lb higher than his last success – and like his sire he looks the type who is open to further improvement on the surface.
I think he is still ahead off the assessor, and from a good draw in stall 2 he is taken to make all in the hands of James Sullivan for a yard whose runners at the venue always command the utmost respect.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Fame Again (9/2 bet365, Stan James – BOG)
