The Absent Mare has a good record at Kempton and looks decent value at 15/2 in the 7.30 there this evening after shaping well last time out.
The five-year-old won three races last year over 2m – including two at this track – and shaped well in her last three starts of 2012.
Robin Dickin’s charge the put up an even better effort over course and distance last month when finishing a close up third of 11 to Llamadas.
After being held up in mid=division she found herself short of room two from home before making good headway to throw down a challenge inside the last before being unable to find an extra close home.
In the end she went down by just a short-head and a head in a driving finish and she now meets the winner on 6lb better terms.
That should be more than enough to turn around the placings, and although the handicapper has put her up 2lb for that effort to a mark of 68 she is still just 5lb higher than when registering her last success over course and distance last March where she stayed on strongly to win going away by 1 1/2 lengths from Russian George.
She also has the services of Luke Morris in the saddle, who rode her to victory that day and gets on well with her, and looks to be coming to the boil nicely and ready to go in again judged on her latest effort.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way The Absent Mare (15/2 Boylesports – BOG)
