Duplex looks Super at 10s

Super Duplex is back down to his last winning mark and looks decent each-way value at 10/1 in the amateur riders contest that closes today’s Lingfield card (3.30).

The gelding ahs two all-weather successes to his name, and his last victory came over a mile at this venue back in when trained by Pat Phelan.

He chased the leaders and stayed on well that day to lead inside the last and beat Teen Ager by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 58, but his form then tailed off after he was put up 4lb to 62.

However the handicapper has gradually cut him some slack and he didn’t run too badly on his final start for Phelan two starts back over today’s trip at Kempton when fifth of 9 to Commissar, and built on that last time up over a mile at this track on his first start for Roger Teale when keeping on well to finish a 2 length sixth of 10 to Bloodsweatandtears off 58.

It was a run which suggested that he may be finding his form again, and the step back up to 1m 4f could well suit the six-year-old at this stage of his career and he has won over it in the past.

Another plus is that he has run a number of solid races in the hands of inexperienced, and providing he can overcome his wide draw in stall 16 he is weighted to be right in the thick of the action at the business end of affairs.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Super Duplex (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
