Ebony the bet at Bangor

The unexposed and potentially well treated Ebony River looks massively overpriced at 16/1 in the 4.25 at Bangor today.

The gelding shaped with plenty of promise last season behind the likes of Recession Proof and Pure Faith, and really caught the eye in three starts for Jenny Candlish before disappointing last time out at Hereford.

However that race probably came too quick after a hard run at this track where he was collared close home in the mud and beaten a head by Radmores Revenge, and I am convinced that he has a race like this in him off his current mark of 111 judge on his previous runs.

In the first at Hexham he made smooth headway two from home after being held up to throw down a challenge at the last before being unable to find any extra close home and being beaten just under two lengths by Aland Islands.

It was a highly promising effort after nearly a year off the track, and he followed it up with another solid effort when fourth to Trafalgar at Uttoxeter.

The way he has been shaping suggests that a step up in trip to today’s 3m will be ideal, and with ground conditions fine he looks sure to run a huge race.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Ebony River (16/1 Boylesports – BOG)
