Euro 2016: Wales worth a wager at 2/1

Wales look worth a wager at 2/1 with Stan James to beat Solvakia in their opening Euro 2016 game today (5pm KO, Live on BBC 1).

Chris Coleman’s side have done really well to qualify, relying heavily on Gareth Bale to do so.

They have not been at their best in recent friendlies, but those games are irrelevant and it is this tournament that matters.

It’s fair to say that they are not a flashy goalscoring side, but the players do work hard for each other and will be keen to make an impact on the country’s European Championship debut.

It’s only Wales’ second major tournament since the 1958 World Cup and I think they will be really up for this and looking to silence a few doubters.

Slovakia are no great shakes despite unbeaten in eight games since a shock home defeat to Belarus last October, and I think Wales can edge what promises to be a tight and hard fought affair.

Bale scored or assisted nine of Wales’ 11 goals in the qualifying game, and has to be the choice in the first goalscorer market at the geneeral 4/1 on offer.
