Evervescent handicapped to strike under Hanagan

Evervescent has been in good form this season and looks worth siding with at 5/1 to score an overdue success in the 2.20 at Haydock today.

The five-year-old  is on a long losing run, having not scored since landing a juvenile contest at this venue back in May 2011.

However, having started life off in handicaps off 85 the gelding is now running off just 70 and his three runs this season have suggested that his time is near.

Graham McPherson’s charge ran very well on seasonal reappearance to finish a close up third of 9 to Choral Festival over 1m 2f at Neewbury, and backed that up with a 3/4 length third of 8 to Ifan over the same distance at Brighton.

He then seemed to find 1m 4f too far when fifth of 12 to Flying Power at Leicester last time out, but still ran well to be beaten 4 3/4 lengths in a race which had a stronger look to it than today’s.

The drop back to 1m 2f this afternoon is sure to suit, and with Paul Hanagan in the saddle and underfoot conditions fine, everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Evervescent (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
