11/2 Hunters Creek hot stuff at Haydock

Hunters Creek takes a drop in class in the 5.20 at Haydock today and makes plenty of appeal at 11/2.

John Gosden’s colt had some useful form to his name as a juvenile, winning on his sceond start on the all-weather at Lingfield before going on to finish an excellent fourth of 17 to Oklahoma City in a valuable sales race at Newmarket.

The son of Cape Cross then ran really well on his sesaonal reappearance when finishing seventh of 13 to Sudden Wonder in another sales race at Newmarket over 1m 2f, before finishing a solid fourth of 5 to Pinzolo in a listed race at headquarters.

The winner is a useful sort rated 104, whilst the runner-up Master Carpenter has gone on to score twice since – inluding in a Group 3 at Chantilly – and is now rated 107.

That is strong form on the context of this class 3 handicap, and makes Hunters Creek look on a fair mark off 95.

The three-year-old will certainly find this easier than the ultra-competitive class 2 Britannia Stakes he competed in last time out at Royal Ascot where he met trouble before finishing well down the field, and this looks a nice opportunity for Hunters Creek to get back to winning ways.

Daily Sport recommeded bet: 3pts win Hunters Creek (11/2 BetVictor, Paddy Power – BOG)
