Ewell Place weighted to take all the beating at Wolves

Ewell Place has become dangerously well handicapped and at 11/2 rates the best bet on today’s Wolverhampton card (5.10).

The gelding has not won since landing a connditions contest at Newbury back in July 2012 off an official rating of 98, but has run a couple os solid races this year to be placed off marks of 76 in two class 4 contests and now gets into this class 5 affair off a career-low mark of 68.

That gives him a massive chance at the weights judged on the pick of his form, and he comes into the contrest on the back of an eye-catching run at Lingfield where he dead-heated for fourth behind The Great Gabrial on his second start for David Simcock.

He showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders that day and was keeping on at the same pace when finding himself short of room inside the last.

In the end he weakened to be beaten 4 lengths, but it was a big step up on his previous runs and one which suggested his new handler would not be long in placing him to good effect to exploit his lenient handicap mark.

His trainer also does well with his runners at the track and has a 40% strike rate in the past 12 months when putting up Martin Harley in the saddle (2 wins and 1 place from 5 rides).

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Ewell Place (11/2 BetVictor – BOG)
