Arrayan looks a Pipe ace

Arrayan looks the type who has plenty more to offer and at 7/2 is strongly fancied to defy top weight and land the 1.20 at Exeter today.

David Pipe’s gelding proved a revelation when sent handicapping last season, landing contests at Wincanton and Hereford with consummate ease before unluckily failing to land the hat-trick when coming to grief at the last at Taunton.

Despite the fact that he is now 37lb higher than when notching his first success he showed enough on his comeback run at Sandown to suggest that he was capable of winning more races of his current mark.

Looking badly in need of the race, he travelled strongly in midfield for much of the 2m 6f contest before tiring markedly and weakening two from home to finish 9th of 19 to the unexposed Poungach.

Although eventually beaten 38 lengths he ran much better than that indicates and the drop back down in trip to 2m 1f on the heavy ground he relishes looks sure to suit.

Withe Connor O’Farrell, who gets on extremely well with him, taking an invaluable 3lb off his back I think he will take all the beating and rates the best bet on the card for a stable which has been in cracking form of late.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Arrayan (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)

3/1 Mission holds outstanding claims

The progressive Mission Complete looks terrific value at 3/1 in the finale at Exeter today (3.20) and is confidently expected to get back on the winning trail.

Jonjo O’Neill’s charge showed vast improvement when beating next time out winner Orion Express by a cosy 1/2 a length at Stratford back in October and put up an even better effort last time out when chasing home Derwen Pride at Ludlow.

He has been put up another 6lb for that effort to a mark of 96 (having opened his account off 85) but the winner has given the form a solid look by going in again since and I think that the five-year-old son of Milan has plenty more to offer.

The testing ground should also hold no fears for him, and his shrewd connections look to have found him a very weak contest where he is potentially far better than his exposed rivals.

This really does look a golden opportunity for him, and I had him priced up at no bigger than 9/4 on my tissue.

Therefore the 3/1 on offer with bet365 and Stan James looks huge and should be snapped up.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Mission Complete (3/1 bet365 – BOG, Stan James)
