9/2 Pandora worth a punt
Peveril Pandora has been shaping like a winner waiting to happen and makes plenty of appeal at 9/2 now stepped back up in trip in the 12.30 at Exeter today.
Jimmy Fox’s mare first caught my eye when running far better than her finishing position suggests to be 7 of 17 to Kateal at Chepstow two starts ago off a mark of 83
She travelled nicely for much of the race at the Welsh track before weakening out of contention to be beaten 29 lengths without being knocked about.
The eight-year-old then found the drop in trip back to 2 miles too sharp for her when finishing fourth at Wincanton last time out, where she travelled well again but was held up too far off the pace and could never get competitive when the pace quickened rounding the home turn.
However she is now back up in trip to a far more suitable 2m 3f and having started life off in handicaps on 95 she is now down to a mark of just 80.
On her best form that gives her an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective, and this weak looking contest provides her with a golden opportunity of belatedly notching her first win over hurdles
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Peveril Pandora (9/2 generally available – use BOG)
Jump in for the 7/1 about Joie
Jonjo O’Neill has his team in good firm and Quazy de Joie looks decent each-way value at 7/1 in the 1.30 at Exeter.
The gelding has been in good notched his third win of the year when beating Or Sing About at Fontwell in June.
He has since run two solid races to finish in the frame, and the handicapper has given him a chance by dropping him a couple of pounds to a mark of 109.
Although that is still 6lbs higher than his last win, the eight-year-old is a lazy sort who only just does enough and looks the type to excel over today’s marathon trip of 4m.
It’s also interesting that his shrewd connections are fitting him with blinkers for the first time this afternoon, and the headgear and extreme test could well prove to be a potent combination.
In a race where it easy to put a line through many of the runners i find it hard to see him not being in the frame at the very least.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Quazy de Joie (7/1 Coral)
