Extrasolar weighted to shine at Brighton

Extrasolar has run well in his last two starts and can take advantage of a drop in the weights to land the 3.00 at Brighton today.

Amanda Perrett’s gelding landed 5f handicaps at Salisbury and Bath last summer on fast ground, with the last of those successes come off a mark of 84 when beating Monumental Man by 3/4 of a length.

The five-year-old got put up to 88 for that victory, and went on to run a solid race off that rating when a 1/2 length third to Milly’s Gift in a 5f contest at Leicester.

Extrasolar is now able to race off just 77, 7lb lower than when last successful, and that gives him major claims from a handicapping perspective.

Another plus is that he is 1-1 at the venue, and his last two runs in decent class 4 handicaps at Sandown and Newmarket, when third and fifth respectively, suggest he is ready to strike and read well in the context of this contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts Extrasolar (7/2 BetVictor, Ladbrokes, Stan James, Sky Bet – BOG)
