Face outstanding Value at 11/4

Irish raider Face Value was a massive eye-catcher last time out and at 11/4 rates the best bet on today’s Wolverhampton card in the 3.45.

Gordon Elliott’s gelding was given a horror ride at Dundalk where he was held up miles off the pace before staying on well without ever threatening to finish 5th of 14 to general Bunching.

That run came off a mark of 62 and he races here off a 1lb lower mark for stable who’s raiders always have to be feared.

Before Dundalk he had put in an improved performance to land a maiden hurdle at Punchestown, and there is little doubt in my mind that he is now potentially very well treated in this sphere.

It’s also interesting that connections have booked the services of Jimmy Fortune to partner the four-year-old as he was on board when he arguably ran his best race when trained by Brian Meehan to finish fifth of 11 in a Kempton maiden which has thrown up plenty of winners.

He was allotted an opening handicap mark of 72 after that effort, so given that he has improved since joining Elliott and now races of an 11lb lower mark he looks they all have to beat.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 5pts win Face Value (11/4 Coral)
