Piscean and Spencer worth a punt

The booking of Jamie Spencer to partner Piscean in the 2.40 at Wolverhampton really catches the eye, and the gelding is strongly fancied at 5/1 to land the spoils.

Tom Keddy’s gelding is well suited by exagerrated waiting tactics, and Spencer looks the ideal partner to get the best out of the seven-year-old who tackles 7f for the first time since his juvenile days.

The son of Stravinsky shaped as if he now needed the trip when keeping on well from off the pace to finish a never nearer 2 1/2 length 5th of 12 to Seek he Fair Land over 6f at Lingfield last time out and is now undoubtedly handicapped to strike again.

Although he has not scored suince November 2010, that win came off a mark of 93 and todaqy he runs off just 87.

That gives him a massive chance from a handicapping perspective, especially as he has run so many good races since that victory in decent races without getting his head in front.

Given his run style he obviously needs the gaps to appear at the right time, but he has the right man onboard to get him home if they do and at 5/1 looks good value.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Piscean (5/1 Betfred – BOG, Sky Bet)
