Irish raider First In Command has become seriously well treated and is of major interest at 5/1 in the 5.15 at Kempton today.
Daniel Loughnane’s charge is a useful sort on his day and has dropped to a career low mark as a result of a losing steak stretching back two year’s.
His last win came off a mark of 76 over 6f at Doncaster back in July 2009, but he has run well since on plenty of occasions of marks as high as 81 and runs off just 57 today.
The gelding was a good third off 69 to Darcey at Wolverhampton last October when a well backed 5/1 favourite and followed that run up with a head second to White Daffodil in an apprentice handicap at the Curragh of 71.
He has failed to perform up to that level this season, but has handicap mark has plummeted as a result and he has caught the eye in his last two runs without troubling the judge.
The six-year-old ran o0n strongly to finish a not knocked about never nearer sixth of 12 to Valmina at Wolverhampton, and followed up with a similar run when beaten just over 3 lengths and finishing 6th of 10 to Little Jimmy Oddsox at the same venue.
On both occasions he did enough to suggest that he was capable of landing a prize like today’s sooner rather than later, and he is certainly handicapped to register well overdue success.
His connections like nothing more to have a tilt at the ring, and I would not be surprised to see the money arrive for him this morning
He is currently on offer a top priced 5/1 with Ladbrokes, and that looks big in my eyes for a horse that is so well treated.
