Frank & Wale finish ’em early

Friday night saw another cracking display of boxing skills laid on by the ever likable double act of Dennis Hobson and Steve Crump at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena and televised LIVE on FREESPORTS TV the home of free 2 air sports coverage in the UK.

Joint bill toppers Tommy Frank and Josh Wale had early nights after dispatching their African oppo’s early much to the delight of the home supporters in attendance.

Tommy Frank was scheduled to make his maiden defence of his Commonwealth Super Flyweight Title against Jemsi Kibazange, but instead faced another Tanzanian fighter, John Chuwa, 17-4 9 KO’s, with his strap not on the line.

Frank started well and kept the pace and pressure on the visitor for 7 rounds until he rocked Chuwa with a cracker of a left hook which saw Chuwa shaking his head to signal he’d head enough and the ref stepped in to call a halt at 1:47 of the round.

Onwards and upwards for Frank who is learning all the time and showed maturity in his performance.

Barnsley’s Josh Wale, 28-11-2 14 KO’s, sent a message out to the featherweight division that he is back and ready to take on all comers after dispatching Ghana’s Ekow Wilson, 18-4 16 KO’s, in the first round of their Commonwealth Featherweight Title eliminator.

Throwing shots to head and body, Wale soon caught Wilson with a THUNDERING body shot that sent him to the canvas and unable to recover, the contest being waved off halfway through the opener. 

Grerat win for Wale as Wilson was a man who, just last year, who had been 10 rounds with former world bantamweight champion, Joseph Agbeko.

Another Dennis Hobson stable fighter Huddersfield’s Tyrone Nurse got back to winning ways with a unanimous six round victory over Spanish-based Nicaraguan, Oscar Amador.

Upset of the show saw Keanen Wainwright beaten by Estonia’s Boris Shikunov on points 39-36.  The Estonian only had one win and 2 draws from five contests 1-2-2 coming into the bout, Wainwright tried getting into a war with Shikunov but came off worsed in their exchanges. Wainwright will learn from the contest and is now 1-1, 1 KO.
