Southwell specialist General Tufto has slipped back down to a winning mark and at 4/1 rates the day’s best bet on the card in the finale at 3.30.
The gelding has registered nine wins at the track and seven of those have come over today’s distance.
His last success came off a mark of 67 back in February and long losing run since has seen him plummet to a rating of just 58.
That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective and he signalled that he was about to take advantage when an excellent staying on third to Minortransgression in an amateur riders’ contest here last time out.
He was beaten just 1 1/2 lengths that day, and know that he is professional ridden I am expecting him to take all the beating this afternoon.
It really does look a gilt edged opportunity for him to score an overdue success, and at 4/1 he is cracking value in my eyes.
