Georgebernardshaw is a tricky customer, but has become very well treated if putting his best foot forward and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 12/1 in the 5.20 at Haydock.
John Quinn’s gelding was a very useful type in his prime, but is no longer the force of old and recently finished second in a seller.
However he showed that he still has what it takes to win a race of this nature when landing a handicap at Kempton back in March of a rating of 90 and is now a massive 20lb below that mark.
That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective if on one of his going days, and his proven ability to handle today’s heavy going is another major plus.
With Jamie Spencer in the saddle this looks a good opportunity for him to get his head back in front where it matters, and at 12/1 he looks overpriced.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Georgebernardshaw (12/1 generally available – BOG firms)
