Goldenveil has plummeted in the weights and looks good value at 10/1 to take advantage and score and overdue success in the 1.40 at Musselburgh.

Richard Fahey’s filly has proved frustrating since bolting up by 7 lengths in a maiden on her second start as a two-year-old, but having started life in handicaps off a mark of 82 is now running off just 53.

She finished a solid fourth of 8 to Barbican in a decent class 3 handicap at Doncaster last year, and a repeat of that effort would make her a good thing in this class 6 selling handicap.

The daughter of Iffraaj has also been running better than her form figures suggest of late, and after finishing a solid runner-up to Hyde Lea Flyer at Warwick two starts back she caught the eye last time out at Newcastle when slowly away and keeping on to finish a never nearer 7th of 15 to Cadgers Brig.

The fact that she was sent off favourite for that race suggests that connections believe she is now on a mark which she can exploit and the further drop in grade could be enough to see her get her get back into the winners’ enclosure.

She will certainly not get a better opening than this, and with her stable in a rich vein of form she looks cracking each-way value at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Goldenveil (10/1 bet365 – BOG)
