Gunner worth a shot at 16/1 in Irish Lincolnshire

The big betting race of the day is the BetVictor Irish Lincolnshire (4.30 Curragh) and Gunner Lindley makes plenty of each-way appeal at 16/1.

The gelding was a useful sort when trained by Barry Hills with his last success coming at York over a mile in testing conditions where he ran on gamely to beat Pintura by 1/2 a length off a mark of 88.

He then joined the Reginald Roberts yard at the start of last year, and ran well to be placed on all five outings for his new handler.

He finished an excellent third of 14 to Bold Thady Quill over today’s course and distance off a mark of 90 when last seen in action, and is now 12lb better off with that rival for just over a 4 length beating.

That should be more than enough for him to turn the tables, and he now gets into this off a 2lb lower mark which means he is back down to the same rating as when last successful.

That gives him every chance from a handicapping perspective, and another plus is that he has proven form in testing conditions.

He also has a decent draw in stall 16, and with John Egan in the saddle everything looks in place for a massive run for what is a shrewd yard.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Gunner Lindley (16/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
