Heather looks hot stuff at Sedgefield

The unexposed Heather Glen looks to have been found a great opportunity to open her account in the 2.50 at Sedgefield and at 11/2 looks the standout bet on the card.

Sue Smith’s mare hinted that she had ability in two bumper runs and then when not not about in her first three starts over hurdles before putting in a much improved and highly encouraging effort when third on her handicap debut at Newcastle last time out.

Despite being weak in the market she travelled when on the heels of the leaders for much of the 3m journey and stuck to the task really well from three out to be beaten just 4 1/2 lengths by Forcfield in what looked a competitive affair.

The five-year-old shaped as if stamina would be her forte that day, and although she drops back in trip this afternoon the testing conditions are likely to make it a real slog and play to her strengths.

The handicapper has certainly given her a chance by leaving her mark unchanged on 81, and I am convinced that she has the scope to be much better than that in due course.

With the yard banging in winners left right and centre in recent weeks she looks overpriced at 11/2.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Heather Glen (11/2 bet365, Victor Chandler – BOG)
