Hughes cut for jockey’s title after fabulous four-timer

Richard Hughes has been cut for the jockeys’ title after riding a four-timer at Bath yesterday afternoon.

He was seven behind Ryan Moore (90) on 83 winners at the start of the day but he cut the deficit to just three after winning four races in succession.

Hughes finished last in the first race on Lady Calantha but wasn’t beaten by another rival in his next four as he won aboard Waspy (11/8 fav), Dynastic (7/2), Griffin Point (13/8 fav) and Cockney Fire (8/1).

Ladbrokes go 4/7 about Hughes, bet365 and Bet Victor go 1/2 and Stan James are 2/5.

Moore, not riding again until August 9, remains three clear but has been eased to a top priced 7/4 by Sky Bet.
