Italians can hold City slickers at bay

Man City face a tough trip to Italy tonight to take on Napoli in the Champions League (7.45pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 2), and the draw looks the value bet at 5/2.

Roberto Mancini has insisted that his City slickers will not be settling for a a share of the spoils as he does not want to be playing in the Europa League next spring.

Victory in Naples this evening would clinch a spot in the knockout stages for the Citizens, but a point would still leave the Premier League leaders as favourites to progress.

Given that City face a tough trip to Anfield on Sunday to take on Liverpool in the league it’s not hard to see them settling for the latter despite their gaffer insisting that the only way they know to play is ” to win”.

The two sides met for the first time in Manchester back in September in a game which ended 1-1.

That game showed that the Italian side were no pushovers and they will have the advantage of their fanatical fans being right behind them tonight.

The support, which creates a hostile atmosphere for all visiting sides, has meant that Napoli have an excellent record on their own patch – despite the fact that they draw more games than they should win.

I can’t see them losing this, but I also can’t see City leaving empty handed. That makes the draw the obvious play, and I think that outcome will be shorter than the 5/2 currently available come kick-off time.
