Honour looks Grand at 16/1
Grand Honour has not won for a long time but has been given a real chance by the handicapper and looks worth chancing at 16/1 in the 4.00 at Kempton today.
The gelding’s losing run stretches back to July 2008, but that win did come off a mark of 83 and he has run a number of respectable races since off marks in the 70s and has shaped recently as if a belated victory could be in the offing.
Peter Howling’s charge has been well supported in five of his last six outings, and finished a close up third over 7f here three starts ago off a mark of 51.
Although he has failed to build on that effort in his last two starts he is now down to a career low mark of just 48 and on the pick of his form that makes him look very well treated in this line-up.
The obvious concern is if he still has the desire to win races, but this does represent a good opportunity form him and at 16/1 I think he’s worth risking.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 1pt each-way Grand Honour 16/1 (Generally available – use BOG firms)
12/1 Requisite makes each-way appeal
Requisite has been running really well of late without getting her head in front and looks overpriced at 12/1 in the 6.30 at Kempton this evening.
Ian Woods’ mare belied her odds of 125/1 when staying on well to finish sixth of 16 to the useful Sirius Prospect over 6f at Doncaster three outings ago when she had some very classy sorts behind her.
Since then she has run two solid races over 7f, shaping as if a drop back in trip to today’s 6f journey would be in her favour.
The six-year-old is certainly well treated in this class 4 contest on her run at Donny, and given that she has proven form on this surface and is only 1lb higher than her last win here back in September there is no reason why she should not go close.
Her hold-up style does mean that she needs some luck in running, but she should get the strong pace she needs to be seen at her best and can hopefully be produced late and fast.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Requisite (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
