King Calypso value at 12/1

King Calypso looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth siding with at 12/1 in the 3.30 at Goodwood today.

Denis Coakley’s gelding won four times on the all-weather in 2014, with the last of those coming off a mark of 67.

He went on to run some solid races last season, including when a 1 length runner-up to Shades Of Silver at Kempton off 80 and now meets that rival on 11lb better terms.

King Calypso also finished a solid third at Kempton off 83, and was far from disgraced at the same venue back in November when fourth of 11 to the classy Moonrise Landing in a class 2 contest off 84.

He finished 2 1/2 lengths behind runner-up Percy Veer in the latter and now meets that rival on 11lb better terms.

It makes the five-year-old look on a handy mark off 75 in this class 3 affair, especially if taking into account the 5lb claim of Edward Greatrex, and overpriced at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way King Calypso (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
