KLOPP TO PUNISH POCH?

Liverpool sit a point behind table toppers Manchester City as they take on Tottenham.

Spurs, if results go against them, could finish the game week in 5th place.

For Tottenham to drop to 5th they’d have to lose today, Arsenal would have to beat Newcastle on Monday, plus lose by a margin to decrease their 7+ goal difference over United at the time of writing.

In the last 7 meetings between the sides both teams have scored in 6 of them, with 21 goals being scored across the games averaging out as 3 per game. In the most recent clash at Anfield, the final score was 2-2 with 3 goals being scored in the final 10 minutes.

Liverpool have an exceptional home record in the Premier League, they haven’t lost at Anfield since April 2017 and haven’t lost at home against Spurs since 2011.

If you were to put the home prowess alongside the current form of Liverpool and Spurs it seems as if there’s only going to be one outcome, statistically speaking.

Tottenham have lost 4 of their last 5 away games in all competitions, conceding 2 or more in all 4 of the defeats too.

In the Premier League the Lilywhites have also lost their last 3 away games at the hands of relegation threatened Burnley, Southampton and Chelsea.

Eric Dier picked up an injury during the international break so will be unavailable as will Harry Winks who’s nursing a hip problem.

Trent Alexander Arnold, Joe Gomez and Xherdan Shaqiri have all returned to full training this week and could potentially play a part but the eyes will be on in-form Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese winger has scored 9 in his last 9 and could be a surprising addition to the race for the Premier League golden boot, he’s currently sitting around the 14/1 mark and given the form he’s in, it’s a serious price.

Liverpool’s goal-scoring ability should prove too much for a struggling Spurs side and the bookies have them pegged as @4/7 favourites.

Liverpool to win and over 2.5 match goals is a more reasonable price from a punters perspective @5/4, and is worth having a dabble on.
