Kuanyao ready to collect

Kuanyao has shaped really well on his last two starts and rates a solid bet at 4/1 to get back on the winning trail in the 4.20 at Yarmouth.

Peter Makin’s gelding hasn’t won since landing a six-timer at Newmarket back in 2010 when beating Swiss Cross off a mark of 84 having registered his first win in that run off just 61.

It’s fair that his failure since then is due largely in part to the fact that the handicapper whacked him up to a rating of 91 after Newmarket and has been pretty slow to relent.

He did run quite well of that rating when fifth of 15 to Directorship at Newbury last August, but since then showed nothing until putting in a far better effort at Windsor two starts ago.

The six-year-old showed plenty of his old dash to chase the leader and held every chance a furlong from home before weakening to finish a 4 3/4 length 8th of 14 to Cape classic.

He then duly built on that effort last time out over course and distance when a 1 1/2 length third of 13 to Hezmaah, leading until being headed a furlong out and being unable to find any extra close home.

That run showed that he was ready to go in again, and although he has been put up a pound to 82 he is still very well treated on his old form.

With Seb Sanders, who gets on extremely well with him, and the going and trip ideal he looks sure to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Kuanyao (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
