Dancewiththedevil is back down to a mark he can exploit and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 3.30 at Plumpton.
Bernard Llewellyn’s gelding has not won for two years, but is now 14lb below his last winning mark and ran well to be narrowly beaten into third by the useful Alazan off a rating of 118 last season.
Now off just 100, he has had just two runs this season and showed plenty of promise on his latest start at Newton Abbott.
He ran far better than his finishing position of 5th to Sweet World suggests, travelling well for much of the journey before being unable to find any extra approaching the last.
It was clear that lack of fitness was his undoing and he was not knocked about once his chance had gone.
That outing should have put the 10-year-old spot on, and if building on that encouraging effort he would take all the beating this afternoon.
This represents the best opportunity he has had for some time, and with Mark Quinlan taking off another 5lb he is certainly weighted to take all the beating.
At 11/1 with Hills he looks cracking each-way value, and I can see him going off a lot shorter come the off.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Dancewiththedevil (9/11 Hills – BOG, Coral)
