Uttoxeter Previews

14/1 Pumboo worth a punt

Pumboo is potentially well-treated now tackling fences for the first time and looks worth chancing at 14/1 in the 4.50 at Uttoxeter.

The gelding has been lightly raced over the years, and despite been very hit and miss over hurdles has some form in the book which would entitle him to go very close in this of a mark of 81.

Rated as high as 104 over hurdles in the past, he finished a good fourth to the useful Noble Alan in a nice hurdle at Newcastle of that mark.

His form since then has not been anywhere near as good, but he showed when third to Andorn at Sedgefield last May that he does retain enough ability to win a race of this nature.

More significantly he is now in the care of the ultra shrewd Brian Ellison, who is a master at getting his type back on track and placing them to the best advantage.

He gave the selection a spin on the flat recently to blow away the cobwebs, and has found him a weak contest to make his chasing bow.

If he does take to the larger obstacles then he must go close, and at 14/1 he looks worth risking.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Pumboo (14/1 Victor Chandler – BOG, Stan James)

Zefooha appeals at 15/2

Zefooha takes a drop in class on her handicap debut in the 5.20 Uttoxeter and is worth an interest at 15/2.

The mare is a fair sort on the level but has yet to shine in three spins over the obstacles.

However she has contested some decent events and remains open to plenty improvement now going handicapping if hurdling more fluently.

Her handler Tim Walford is very shrewd at placing his horses, and very rarely leaves the cash behind when the money is down.

It will be interesting to see if the money comes for Zefooha this morning as in my eyes she is potentially well treated form an opening mark of 88.

She has certainly been found a nice opening by connections, and in a race which lacks strength in depth and won’t take much winning she looks solid each-way value at 15/2.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Zefooha (15/2 Boylesports – BOG, sportingbet)
