Madame Jasmine has shown signs of coming back to her best and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the finale at Plumpton (5.15).
Sue Smith’s mare showed a good attitude to score at the venue over 3m 1f last March, staying on strongly to account for Cloudy Wager by a neck off a mark of 95.
The seven-year-old was hit by a harsh 7lb rise for that narrow success, but didn’t run to badly off it when finishing 6th of 14 to paint The Clouds at Chepstow.
She was then not see in action for 224 days before reappearing at Fontwell in November and finishing third to Always Bold when looking badly in need of the run.
Although eventually beaten 21 lengths she pulled hard and briefly threw down a challenge two from home before weakening out of contention as lack of race fitness took its toll.
She then really caught the eye last time out when although finishing just 6th of 10 to Carrickmines at Taunton she shaped far better than her final placing suggests.
Held up at the rear, she again pulled hard before making good headway on the outside after the seventh flight.
A mistake at the third last then cost her dearly, and a further error to from home saw her stumble and get hampered.
She was then a spent force when she hit the last, and was allowed to come home in her own time.
However it was a run which suggested to me that she was nearing her peak, and now that she is just 3lb above her last winning mark this represents a good opportunity for her to get back in the winners’ enclosure and a bold showing is expected.
