Majuro looks magic at 13/2

Majuro was a massive eye-catcher last time out and having been given a chance by the handicapper rates a solid bet at 13/2 in the 5.00 at Lingfield.

Richard Guest’s gelding had shown little since winning last May at Catterick before running a cracker at Kempton 16 days ago.

The eight-year-old was steadied at the start that day and held up at the rear before making good headway a furlong from home and keeping on well without being unduly punished to finish a three length 6th of 10 to Chilli Green.

It was a very promising effort and signalled that he was now ready to take advantage of a potentially lenient mark.

The gelding is now down to a mark of 77, and that is 4lb lower than his success at Catterick.

He also scored off 90 at the back end of 2010 and 87 at the beginning of last year, so there is little doubt that he is now down to a rating from which he can get back into the winners’ enclosure.

Another plus is that he has course and distance winning form to his name, and at 13/2 he looks overpriced for a horse with plenty in his favour.

At those odds he rates the best bet of the day.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Majuro (13/2 Paddy Power – BOG)
