Maksab shaped really well on seasonal reappearance and looks worth a wager to provide in-form trainer Mick Channon with another winner in the 3.40 at Redcar today.
The colt travelled strongly in the lead and kept on well when headed inside the last to finish a 1 3/4 length third of 15 to Breath Caught at Newmarket.
That looked a decent class 4 for the grade and Maksab looks sure to come on for the run.
Altough now 1lb higher in the weights, a revised rating of 84 looks workable on the pick of his juvenile form.
He ran well off it when a solid fourth of eight to Rufus King in a class 2 nursery at Newmarket when keeping on to be beaten 3 lengths off a mark of 84 having raced wide and had every chance a furlong from home.
The winner has gone on to finish a fine lenmgth second to Headway in a Listed contest at Lingfield and the runner up Port Swtan has won since.
The fifth home Clubbale has also tasted success since to give the form a solid look.
With Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle this looks a nice opening for him to notch a third career success.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Maksab (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
