Now dropped back down in trip, Maqsad looks the value play at 13/2 in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood today (3.35).
This William Haggas trained daughter of Siyouni shaped with promise to be placed in two starts as a juvenile.
Maqsad then made a winning return to action at Newmarket when showing a willing attitude to dig deep and get the better of a smart sort in Twist N’Shake who has gone on to finish a fine fourth in the group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot before winning a Lited contest at Deauville.
That success saw connections pitch her into Listed company next time up at the same venue and Maqsad improved again to run out a facile five-length winner of the Pretty Polly Stakes over 1m 2f.
After making smooth headway two from home to take up the running on the bridle approaching the final furlong, she scooted clear when shaken-up by Jim Crowley to get the job done in style.
That win has earned Maqsad a crack at the 1m 4f Epsom Oaks, for which she was sent off just 4/1, but after travelling strongly into contention she weakend badly two from home to finish a 10 length eight of 14 to Anapurna.
Maqsad clearly failed to stay, but now dropped back down to 1m 2f far better is expected and on her previous form she looks a huge player in this.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Maqsad (13/2 BetVictor, Betfair, Paddy Power, Willima Hill, Unibet – BOG)
