Masamah and Spencer can sprint to success

Masamah looks to have plenty going form him in the 4.25 at Chester and rates a solid bet at 5/2 to score on his first appearance for Marco Botti.

The gelding’s last success came in the Group 2 King George Stakes at Goodwood back in 2011 where he made all to beat Amour Propre by 1 3/4 lengths, but he ran well in some hot contests last year for Kevin Ryan and this looks the easiest opportunity he has had for some time.

The seven-year-old ran really well to finish 8th of 19 to Ortensia in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York, and then ran a fine second to Borderlescott in a Listed contest at Beverley.

He then put in a another sound effort when last seen in action at Doncaster last September where he was unable to dominate before finishing a 3 1/3 length fifth of 12 to the ultra classy Group 1 winning Sole Power.

The form of those races is extremely strong in the context of this listed contest, and another plus is that he has twice won at the track – including over course and distance.

He is also ideally drawn to attack in stall 2, and with Jamie Spencer in the saddle he is going to be extremely hard to peg back if getting loose up front.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Masamah (5/2 Paddy Power – BOG)
