Mr McGregor weighted to strike at Wetherby

Mr McGregor is well-treated now switched back to hurdles in the 2.50 at Wetherby today and looks worth a wager at 6/1.

Heather Dalton’s gelding has only had three starts over the smaller obstacles, and ran well on the last of those when third to Steel Summit in a handicap at Tauton off a mark of 91.

He then had his attention swiched to chasing, and ran well to finish runner-up on his first four starts over the large obstacles – including three times off a mark of 95.

Mr McGregor is now able to race off a career-low rating of just 86, and that makes him look weighted to run a huge race.

Although he has not been at his best in finishing third twice after a break, he should not be spot on to do himself justice and gets fitted with the cheekpieces for the first time.

The booking of Richard Johnson to do the steering also catches the eye, and everything looks in place for a huge run.

Dauily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Mr McGregor (6/1 BetVictor, Paddy Power – BOG)
