Multilicious and Fallon a potent combination

Multilicious is a fascinating contender on her fibreasand debut in the 7.50 at Southwell this evening, and with Kieren Fallon on board and eye-shields fitted for the first time looks worth an each-way wager at 17/2.

Tim Easterby’s filly hinted that she had ability in three maiden runs and duly stepped up on those efforts when a promising third of 14 to Rocket Ronnie on her handicap debut at Hamilton over a mile three starts back.

She tracked the leaders that day and after being switched left to mount a challenge two from home ran on well to be beaten just a length off a mark of 54.

The daughter of Multiplex than ran far better than her finishing position suggests next time up when finising sixth of 14 to the same rival from a poor draw over a mile at Beverley, where after being held-up in mid division she kept on to be beaten 3 3/4 lengths without being knocked about off a mark of 55.

She then ran way below par when last seen in action at Catterick when upped significantly in trip to 1m 4f where she raced in touch until weakening three from home to finish a distant last of 6 to Gabrial The Duke.

That run was far too bad to be true and it may well be that the experiment to try her over the 1m 4f backfired badly.

I think she is better judged on her earlier efforts, and with the handicapper having dropped her 1lb to a mark of 53 she is entitled to be competitive in this now dropped back to a more suitable trip of a mile.

The booking of Fallon certainly catches the eye, as he has a nearly 20% strike rate when teaming up with the stable since 2000 (11 wins and 10 places from just 57 rides) as does the fitting of the eye-shields for the first time.

Her sire Multiplex also tends to do better with his runners on the all-weather, and it would be no surprise to see her bounce back and play a leading role in this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Multilicious (17/2 bet365, BetVictor – BOG)
